Does anyone know the story about iPower?

Special web hosting offer - LIMITED TIME ONLY

So what has happened?
We've been a good customer of theirs since 2000/2001. Things up until late last year were good. The big server switch was announced and all hell broke loose.

What's the deal? Were they sold? Did management of the company take on the mission of destroying businesses and wasting peoples time? Ok, that is an odd mission but they are very successful at it.

Seriously, does anyone know what got us to this?

And as a side note, we've moved almost everyone over to A2Hosting. I'm almost afraid to mention them, they are that good. No affiliate link in there, just a straight up recommendation.

I'm honestly curious about the story behind iPower.
Apparently it is/was owned by Thomas Gorny (at least in 2006). He realized then that there was a problem. He instituted a new program to ask clients what they thought of iPower and see if they would recommend iPower to friends (please, stop laughing until I finish...thank you...)

, Gorny got started by conducting an e-mail survey of about 20,000 clients. He figured that IPower's first score would be low, but he was stunned at just how low the number was: 13. In other words, some 8,700 of the clients surveyed were detractors and probably would not recommend IPower to their friends.

Later in the article, Mr. Gorny tells of his success (please, again with the laughing...rude!)

Customer churn, he says, is down from about 2 percent to less than 1.5 percent per month, and he expects new customers to propel his 2006 revenue to more than $40 million. "We finally have confidence that we can keep our customers for years," he says.

At some point, someone cared...or at least cared enough to give this interview.
But what happened?!?

When not hating iPower, I like to garden and take walks in the park.

May 9, 2007 - Discount web hosting pioneer turned industry stalwart, IPOWER and mega-host, Endurance International have announced the merger of the two companies. The deal, which closed on May 4 was announced minutes ago, and brings together more than 600,000 web sites to create the third-largest shared hosting company in the United States.
