iPower: Where you teach our techs their job™
I just typed in 'Ipower sucks' into Google and ended up here...
As I type this, I am rounding the corner on a 75 minute chat session with iPower.
They switched another one of our reseller domains over to 'the new platform' causing it to error out. Granted, the client freaked and botched the DNS but that's worked its way out. What hasn't worked its way out is why the website no longer works.
2 weeks ago, they switched another client over. Same deal, DNS doesn't match up and the site is down. When that is fixed we see that the site they have moved is from ...4 months ago. Our client was not happy to say the least...
Today is much more fun. Yep, Real fun.
Today the site was switched over but the PHP scripts that run on HTML pages will not work. I log on to a chat session and here's how that goes:
Stupid Ipower Employee: Thank you for holding.
SIE: You need to rename the html pages to php!
SIE: Is there anything else I can help you with?
I go through the effort to explain how, on the old server, I was able to change the htaccess file to accomplish this effort.
SIE: You can do that? You should never change that file unless you know what you are doing...
And we just went downhill from there....
No matter what I did SIE could not get it. I sent links to the old server so she could see what the site was supposed to look like (visuals! I thought visuals would help!!), nope. SIE kept saying 'I don't see an error'. That's because there isn't one!! The content isn't showing that the script calls for...oh nevermind. Why bother.
We've been a customer of theirs since 2000. Great uptime and service of the years. In the last 6 months my business has lost 40+ hours to fixing iPower hosting switches and incompetence. We may even loose a good client because of this. I cannot express how much i despise iPower.
